Time Out says

A quaint bakery-café has found its beginnings in the charming district of Joo Chiat – one that is known for its lovely select shops, local eateries and endless café options.

Located at 174 Joo Chiat, Bingo serves fresh and simple yet expertly crafted bakes. Stepping into the warm and cosy space feels almost like entering a familiar living room, while the outdoor pet-friendly seating has a vibe reminiscent of lounging at a friend's backyard.

And fun fact, most of the furniture and fixtures found in Bingo are handmade by friends of co-founder Jas. One standout feature for us is the ‘community’ table in the centre. Its design requires people to gather around, which in turn encourages interaction and new friendships. And this aligns with Bingo’s ultimate goal too: to be a space where communities can grow, gather, and support one another.

If your mornings typically start with something savoury, then opt for the humble chicken pie ($10.50). The pastry of the pie is exceptionally tasty, thanks to the infusion of chicken bone broth, which is done to minimise wastage. For a good mix of both sweet and salty, the Four Cheese with Honey ($6.50) loaf is your best bet. This is definitely our favourite too – it strikes the ideal balance with its blend of chewy dough infused with cheese and just the right amount of honey drizzle. Sweet tooths can go straight for their Iranian pistachio tart ($14), crafted from a solid tart shell, adorned with Iranian pistachio praline, pistachio frangipane, and topped off with indulgent vanilla and pistachio cream and a sprinkle of crushed pistachios.

Other bakes to try include the Memory of Osterbrogade ($9), a cruffin filled with raspberry jam and vanilla filling, and the cardamom bun ($6). There are also loaves of bread for takeaways too. And it goes without saying, pair these bakes and pastries with a cup of coffee – made using coffee beans from Maxi Coffee Bar (from $4).

To keep things exciting, Bingo’s menu is ever changing, so be sure to follow their Instagram to stay updated on their latest bakes.

TWB x We, Humans: On Death and Living

Death is a topic that – unsurprisingly – inspires fear and discomfort in most people. The White Book and We Humans seek to change the way we think about death by encouraging honest and candid discussions at an intimate conversation circle. This event invites attendees to make space for a topic we often ignore and provides an opportunity to voice unspoken fears, curiosities, and reflections – not in a morbid way, but as a way to reflect on how we have lived. Through guided dialogue, attendees will explore personal questions around mortality, sharing stories and listening in an open and supportive setting. There is a fee to attend, but each participant will also receive a complimentary copy of White: Behind Mental Health Stigma, worth $58.
