Time Out says

Modern Peruvian cuisine, colourful interiors, upbeat salsa music and the vibrant energy of Latin American culture is what makes dining at Canchita unique. Named after the large corn kernels behind the popular Peruvian popcorn snack, Canchita is founded and helmed by Peruvian husband-Mexican wife duo Daniel & Tamara Chavez, as the couple continues their mission of showcasing the wide diversity of Latin American flavours, colours and ingredients to the world, through it’s 80-seat main dining room Amazonas, the 30-seat ceviche bar Inca, and the green outdoor terrace, each of which are inspired by the lush Amazonian landscapes. Come for the sublime ceviches (from $24) and hearty Peruvian anticuchos skewers (from $24) and arroz rice dishes ($36), and stay for Tamara’s mean tacos (from $20) and Mexican street food (from $14). Also, don’t miss out on the Canchita Experience, the daily curated five-course ‘A True Journey To Latino Flavours’ tasting menu ($128).

What’s on

LATINADA Street Food & Music Festival

Before you decide to book your next holiday destination, head down to the LATINADA Street Food & Music Festival for a true taste of Latin American culture. Get ready to dance and dine as Canchita transforms its space with bold flavours and irresistible rhythms, transporting you to the heart of the vibrant continent. Expect a mouth-watering menu as 14 chefs take you on a culinary journey through countries including Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, and Cuba. Make space for quesadillas, stuffed arepas, paellas and more. The dishes are also paired with a beverage selection that spotlights the region’s spirits. So think: tequila cocktails, pisco sours and caipirinhas. Of course, a festival celebrating Latin America’s traditions and its community wouldn’t be complete without the music. Experience an authentic Latin street party with live performances and DJ sets. Lose yourself to the upbeat tempo of Dominican merengue, the seductive energy of Brazilian samba, and the soulful beats of Afro-Peruvian. There are also Zumba sessions so the little ones can get in on the fun, too.
