Time Out says

A far cry from its humble yong tau foo stall roots, Fu Lin at CQ @ Clarke Quay opens doors as a modern Asian restaurant and bar, serving up Asian and Western cuisines, and of course, its popular fried yong tau foo.

The vibe

The vintage Chinese décor here clashes gloriously with the industrial supper club vibe. Think dark wood tones, sleek furnishings, and ambient lighting that flatters everyone. Things stay chill on weekdays, but come Friday and Saturday nights, live DJ sets and a buzzy crowd transform the space into a sultry, soundtrack-filled hangout for foodies and party people alike.

The food

The OG yong tau foo is still the star of the show – made fresh daily with yellowtail fish paste and wontons, fried to a golden crisp and drenched in thick, umami-laced gravy. But that’s not all – you’ll also find Fu Lin noodles ($7) with minced chicken and mushroom gravy, Sichuan mala dumplings ($15), XO radish cake ($17), and other comforting zi char dishes.

The drink

The cocktails here don’t hold back. Sip on Ain’t Fu Lin Around, a spiced rum number shaken up with chilli padi. Or lean into the smoky Nana Bolvadier, a bourbon-based twist laced with Campari, banana liqueur and red wine. Want something wild? Wonderland delivers a cheeky punch with four spirits – rum, vodka, tequila and gin – and a splash of Midori Melon and Sprite.

Time Out tip

Make it a late one – Fridays and Saturdays are when Fu Lin turns up the volume with live DJ sets, good vibes, and a menu that runs late into the night.
