I got myself a cup of Kopi O Kosong and a serving of Kaya Toast without butter. The former turned out exactly how I liked it – bitter, thick and served hot. It was so satisfying because this was my first local coffee fix since coming back to Singapore.

The Kaya Toast comes in 2 large slices that are then sliced in half, so you get 4 pieces on your plate. I thought that their kaya was simply delicious! I could tell that it was homemade because it was slightly chunky, unlike the smooth spread you get at other chains and when it’s store bought at the supermarket. It had a nice light green colour and in fact, they sell their homemade kaya as well. I wasn’t a fan of their toast though, because I thought it was crisp enough. It was definitely cut thinly enough but it didn’t seem like brown brown nor was it toasted enough for my taste.

This is the second time I’ve tried Good Morning Nanyang Cafe and I’d say that I’m mostly impressed with their kaya because it’s really quite different from other chains and food courts, and really flavourful. I’m also a big fan of their coffee, I think they do it well and I love that it is served fresh and hot.
