Time Out says

A slice of Scotland in Millenia Walk, Highlander is a spirited bar and restaurant where kilts, rock tunes, and whisky flow freely. More than just a themed drinking hole, Highlander has quietly built a reputation for hearty Scottish fare, rowdy good vibes and an encyclopaedic whisky list that’ll impress even the most seasoned connoisseur.

The menu is filled with robust, comforting bites – perfect for lining the stomach before (or after) a big night out. The standout? The Scotch egg. Though invented in England, this rendition is one worth crossing borders for: a golden breadcrumb shell encases savoury sausage meat and a tender hard-boiled egg. It's crisp, salty, and immensely satisfying. Other favourites include haggis-stuffed grilled chicken, hearty beef and Guinness pies, and flame-grilled meats, all served with a healthy side of attitude and a splash of Highland charm.

Drinks-wise, Highlander is all about whisky, with over 200 labels ranging from smooth Speysides to smoky Islays. Curious sippers can try a dram from just $9.50, or splurge on a bottle of top-shelf single malt for $2,800. There’s also a decent beer and cocktail selection to keep the whole crew happy.

The vibe
Lively, loud, and unpretentious. Expect rock music, kilts, and tourists mingling with whisky lovers and late-night revellers.

The food
Scottish comfort food done right. The Scotch egg is a must, and the mains are big on meat, carbs, and flavour.

The drink
A whisky lover’s dream, with 200+ labels on offer. Accessible entry-level drams and ultra-premium bottles sit side by side.

Time Out tip
Ask the bar staff for whisky pairing suggestions – they know their stuff.
