Ah, brunch. It’s neither breakfast or lunch, and perhaps it’s due to the lack of categorisation that makes going for brunch feel like a treat. Home Dawn Café takes brunch sessions to a whole new level by including live music to accompany your meal over weekends. While it may not necessarily be a new concept, how many brunch places have you gone to that provides live music?
Home Dawn’s menu offers your typical brunch items, such as avocado toast ($16) and Homie’s Brekkie ($25), a full breakfast platter consisting of sourdough toast, bacon, bockwurst, tomato, avocado, tater tots, and your choice of eggs. The menu also features eggs Benedict with different toppings: smoked salmon ($23), bacon and mushroom ($18), and for those who prefer a vegetarian option, with avocado ($16). While on the pricier side, the café is currently holding a one-for-one brunch promotion from now until February 24, 2024, meaning that you can get one of its brunches for just $8. Do note that in order to redeem this promotion, you have to make a reservation and also be following the café’s social media.
When night falls, Home Dawn transforms into Home Dusk, a livehouse that features live music, DJ sets, and a wide array of fusion foods such as a wagyu beef steak rendang ($45), gochujang ayam nasi lemak ($22), and yangnyeom chicken waffles ($18). The menu also features an abalone “risotto” ($28), which consists of Korean abalone, mushroom, kombu, and koshikari rice instead of the typical carnaroli and arborio used to make risotto. Those looking for light bites can opt for their loaded PKP fries ($18) – a Thai-style stir-fried basil chicken with egg and fries, or kwek kwek ($12), which are Filipino-style crispy quail eggs with manong (fishball) sauce.
