You’ll find bicycles parked inside the space, and a play area (temporarily closed due to safe distancing) surrounded by dining tables. Clearly, Little Rogue Coffee is a café that doesn’t take itself too seriously; inspired by the “cheekiness” of children, the owners set out to create a casual spot where friends and families can spend time together over a meal. The breezy, spacious interior – complete with rattan-lined chairs and wood-toned furnishings – can easily fit dining groups of two to five.
Keep the little ones happy with macaroni and cheese ($10), with broccoli bits sneaked into the dish; or chicken noodle soup ($10) boiled with seasonal vegetables. Or get sides of tatter tots with cheese ($11) that will surely please everyone at the table. The grown-ups can then look forward to a menu where classic brunch offerings are reimagined with new pairings and fun flavours. Order the creamy scrambled eggs ($14), topped with ikura to share (the briny fish eggs can get overwhelming). Miso-roasted cauliflower steak ($18) is a sleeper hit, with hummus, pomegranate seeds, kale chips, nuts, and espresso vinaigrette coming together to elevate the humble vegetable.
Other signatures include the K-pop chicken burger ($23), layered with gochujang-marinated chicken thigh; and seared ribeye ($30) paired with truffle potato foam.
