Monti’s throwing a celebratory party. It recently received the Ospitalita’ Italiana Certification by the Italian Chamber of Commerce – a hallmark of an authentic Italian restaurant that uses local ingredients, and serves up quality plates with high service standards to boot. But the festivities won’t be held at the dome-shaped restaurant by the water – instead, it has transformed the outdoor area of now-closed The Pelican (located just a few metres away) into a two-month pop-up alfresco bar, Monti’s Patio.
The pet-friendly space retains all of the original's scenic allure, with a deck that overlooks prime views of the Marina Bay. Swing by during dusk, and watch as Marina Bay Sands – and its latest addition, the Apple store – light up with the setting sun.
Its menu showcases Monti’s signature Italian flavours: oven-baked wings ($16), truffle pizza ($30), and a ribeye steak ($69) are available to pair with the alfresco bar’s drinks. Tipples go for an affordable $12 house pours during its all-day happy hour promotion. But the main highlight is the Rosé-a-go-go ($78) event, happening every Friday to Sunday. For three hours (time slots run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, and 7.30pm to 10.30pm), enjoy free-flowing drinks and Italian bites against the backdrop of unbeatable views. Grab a bottle of Menabrea, an Italian lager, or sip on three refreshing spritzers. Besides the classic Aperol libation, try the one mixed with red wine and ginger syrup, or the fruity rose with grapefruit juice. Feeling peckish? Look forward to a rotating selection of finger food, with some five items or more available depending on the time of visit. Options can come in the form of mortadella with mini tomatoes, Margherita pizza, and homemade focaccia. But remember to save some space; come 6pm, the chefs from Monti will roll out a parmesan wheel to the patio, and toss up fresh servings of the restaurant’s signature truffle risotto.
