If the name Otto Weibel doesn't sound familiar to you, here's a quick introduction to one of the godfathers of Singapore's culinary scene. The Swiss-born chef has more than 40 years of experience cooking in top restaurants and spent 26 years as the Director of Kitchens at The Stamford and Fairmont in Singapore. There, he mentored young chefs looking to make a name for themselves and it's this same spirit that he wishes to foster at Otto's Deli Fresh.
The casual eatery is a base for Weibel to train young talent and give them a platform to showcase their work. It also gives culinary students a taste of what working in a kitchen is actually like. That's not to say the food is second-string – the recipes are designed by Weibel and he personally selects all the produce used.
