Shake Shack (Neil Road)
Time Out says
The hoardings are down and the queues will soon turn up – famous New York burger chain Shake Shack opens the doors to the second outlet, located at Tanjong Pagar, on February 7. Those looking to sample the brand’s famed burgers and fries no longer need to make the pilgrimage to Jewel Changi Airport. You can do so at this new, central location along 89 Neil Road.
While you won’t get views of the cascading man-made waterfall, this new Shake Shack outlet features murals that are an ode to its culturally rich locale. Singaporean artist Sam Lo has created a striking piece inspired by motifs from around the neighbourhood – Chinese qilin, Malay roof eaves, and Peranakan tilings. Inside, spot a twin tiger painting, a nod to the building’s history as the old Tiger Balm factory.
The menu also features some new additions. Sample two outlet-exclusive concretes ($7.50): The Eye Of The Tiger is a light, fruity mixture of custard served with lychee, raspberry, shortbread, and lime zest; while Open Sesame is a blend of black sesame paste, topped with Plain Vanilla brownies and gold-dusted chocolates. Also making its Singapore debut is the Chick’n Shack ($9.20), an antibiotic-free chicken breast patty slow-cooked in creamy buttermilk. It’s available only at the Neil Road outlet for three days (February 7 to 9), before rolling out to the Jewel outlet from February 10 onwards. And of course, classics like the ShackBurger ($9.20/$12.70) and Shack Stack ($14.30) are also available for those with time to spare looking for an indulgent CBD meal.
