Here’s a convenient solution to your Lunar New Year shopping woes – skip the crowds at Chinatown and Orchard and head straight to Raffles and Tanjong Pagar Xchanges instead. Happening from now ‘til February 15, the CNY bazaar is jam-packed with all your favourite goodies so you can keep your pantry well stocked before the relatives start coming around. Here are some of the tastiest purchases you should not miss at the fair.

Kueh bahulu

Kueh bahulu

from Warisan Recipe

This bite-sized snack from Warisan Recipe makes for the perfect teatime snack, regardless of if you’re celebrating Chinese New Year or not. Madam Zainab’s kueh bahulu ($16) follows a well-guarded recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation – the result is a light and fluffy cake that’s not too sweet or dry. While you can’t go wrong with the original version, there’s also a host of other flavours like raisin, cheese, pandan and chocolate chip bahulu on offer.

Konnyaku jelly koi fish

from Wugufeng Singapore

We’ll admit that we were first drawn to this because of how pretty it looks, making it a welcomed addition to any CNY table. But Wugufeng’s konnyaku jelly koi fish ($19) is not just about its good looks, the light dessert is a refreshing respite from all the rich foods you’ve been gorging on throughout the festive season.

If your other half is a fan of pineapple tarts, then surprise them this Valentine’s Day with Kele’s limited edition rose pineapple tarts that have a pretty pink base.
