We all know and love Japanese crepes – fruits and whipped cream all wrapped up in a soft and thin pancake that is satisfying to bite into. However, have you ever tried a crispy crepe? Well, there’s a new creperie located in the CBD area to satisfy your cravings for crispy goodness.
Staying true to its name, The Crispy Crepes serves up, well, crispy crepes. The store is owned by Natthaya Gerasymenko, an ex-chemistry lecturer who relocated to Singapore in 2020. Although she no longer worked in a laboratory, her passion for chemistry never waned, and she started experimenting with cooking. After a month of tinkering, she perfected her crispy crepe recipe and launched The Crispy Crepes.
Crepes start from $5.50, with a wide variety of sweet and savoury toppings such as the classic choco banana ($5.50), and a more unique matcha and Koko Krunch crepe called Matcha Munchies ($7.50). Those who love pineapple are sure to enjoy Hawaiian ($7.50), a savoury crepe complete with ham, cheese, tomato sauce, and of course, pineapple. The Crispy Crepes also serves up Thai crepes ($5), known as khanom buang, which are mini crispy crepes that resemble tacos. These crepes are filled with meringue and egg floss, resulting in the perfect sweet and salty combo.
Alongside crepes, you can also opt for popular Thai street foods such as coconut rice mini pancakes ($5.50), or egg custard sticky rice ($5). Finish your snacks with a rich Thai milk tea ($4.50) or a Thai milk milo coffee ($4.50). If you’re looking for something more refreshing, try the Anchan lemonade ($4.50), a butterfly pea lemonade that is both tangy and sweet.
