Time Out says

This restaurant might be homegrown, but it still attracts a crowd for those looking to find affordable yet delicious Japanese dishes. The Sushi Bar has three outlets, including two in the Orchard shopping belt (Ngee Ann City and Far East Plaza) and one in Tampines 1 – and no matter how much The Sushi Bar expands, the queues never seem to let up.

You’ll find that most tables order the sirloin steak, served with wasabi dressing for just $14.90, and the kaisen chirashi don ($22.90/$26.90), which comes loaded with fresh cuts of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, swordfish, scallop, and seared salmon belly. Other popular dishes include the scallop mentaiyaki ($14.90), flame-torched scallops drizzled with mentaiko as well as the salmon aburi rolls ($16.90), which are good to share.

Exclusive to its Tampines 1 outlet is the affordable weekday lunch special. At $11.90, the mains include a mini chirashi, ebi katsu curry with rice, yakiniku don, or saba yaki with rice, along with a drink. Or pair your meal with all-day promotions of $3.90 fish miso, $3.90 beer, and $5 sake. Prefer to dine at home? Look out for a new bundle deal from The Sushi Bar on Deliveroo and GrabFood, which comes with a chirashi don and your choice of chicken katsu curry don or chicken katsu, and two miso soups.
