Time Out says

No one expects a hidden eatery, tucked away at the back exit of an NTUC FairPrice in Katong V. It’s a Yugoslavian bakery at that, one that has freshly baked East European pastries and savoury breads – baklava, burek, and pastrmajlija included. While Yugoslavia no longer exists as a country, it’s now known as a collective group of several countries including Serbia and Croatia.

Not having ever been to East Europe, we can’t definitively claim that these baked goods are hundred percent authentic. But tasty? Yes, indeed. This bakery here is exactly what we needed – not for its foray in Eastern European bakes, but simply for its savoury goodness.

It’s the burek you need to try, a baked flaky pastry that’s typically filled with either minced beef or spinach and cheese. We’re in luck: this bakery serves up both a beef burek alongside a spinach and feta burek. Both are priced at $4.90. They also offer pastrmajlija (from $3.20), which is a Macedonian bread pie that’s topped with sliced meat – pork, chicken, or cheese.

Otherwise, the sweet bureks are also worth a try. There’s a sweet apple pie rendition ($7.50), a phyllo-filled pastry that comes generously crammed with apple, cinnamon, and raisins.
