Balenciaga’s Art In Stores project involves a collaboration with Dutch designer Tejo Remy, an award winning artist known for his ground-breaking work at Droog Design. Remy has found new ways of reusing materials to create homeware and appliances. One of such is the Rag Bench, which is set to be displayed at Balenciaga’s store in Paragon Singapore.
Remy took Balenciaga’s deadstock fabric and offcuts from the brand’s workshops and piled them all together to form the Rag bench. The custom furniture aims to create a sturdy yet sustainable design solution, with recycled, raw edges exposed. The bench will also be on display at selected Balenciaga boutiques globally. Balenciaga’s made-to-order rag benches will also be available to customers for purchase.
