To get to Mohd Faruk’s store at Golden Landmark Shopping Complex, you have to walk down a few steps to a little below ground level. The bunker-like shop straddles old and new; glass cabinets and standard modern white shelves occupy a white-walled, blue-carpeted, air-conditioned space piled with a selection of mostly Western second-hand items – cameras, time-keeping devices, naval equipment, musical instruments and a smattering of Chinese antiques to name but a few.
