Commercial photographer Pierce Teo fell in love with the camera at 14. It was when his partner Mei Chan came on board – which involved quitting her full-time job as a buyer – that the dream of opening up a camera shop became a reality. The walls in this Holland Village shop are covered with shelves filled with toy, vintage and Polaroid cameras. Despite the digital takeover, Snap Shop is sourcing from around the globe – shipments from the US, Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland and China – and contributing in the effort to promote film. Teo states firmly: ‘There is no such thing as a bad photo.’ To continue spreading his love for the art, he is opening a training facility that will offer classes on film photography and the use of vintage cameras.
