Shopping for plus-size clothing isn’t a challenge with these shops

By Michelle Ng

As Meghan Trainor can attest to, it’s all about the bass. But we know that shopping for chic plus-size clothing on this island can be like hunting for a needle in a haystack. So we unearthed these boutiques that carry gorgeous frocks, sexy lingerie and swimwear for the curvier among us.

Casual wear

If you’re a UK 12 and above, make  this local boutique your first stop. Founded by Kayde Ling in 2007, the brand has two lines that pretty much sell everything: a premium one ($49.90-$189.90) and a fast fashion collection ($19.90$49.90). The former, which fits up to UK 28, is designed and manufactured in-house, and is produced in limited quantities so you’ll never be caught in the same outfit as someone else (oh, the horror!) And the latter, which fits up to UK 20, comprises apparel and accessories sourced from all over the world. Kaylene’s 1,772-square-foot store also stocks a range of plus-size swimwear.

You don’t have to miss out on designer collaborations, either. MS.READ’s Fall collection, its second collaboration with KL-based designer Ezzati Amira, includes sharp two-piece suits (from $159) and bell-sleeved boho-chic tops ($99) that can bring you from the office to bar, easy. The brand’s inhouse line boasts wearable basics, workwear and evening outfits that fit UK 12 through to UK 24.

Available in all Metro stores.

Dorothy Perkins

Of course we wouldn’t leave this out. With nine stores dotting our island, this high street brand is the to-go store for sizes ranging from UK 6 to 20. Dressier frocks for special occasions will be in stores from September.

The brand’s online store includes XXL sizes in designs you won’t find in its brick-and-mortar outlets, including a fit-and-flare sleeveless dress ($59.90).
Change Lingerie

CHANGE Lingerie Singapore

Ladies blessed with larger assets are catered for at CHANGE, a local off-shoot of the Danish lingerie brand. Bra cup sizes range from A to M – possibly the widest selection you can find in one store – and the bras come in over eight styles, from basic, everyday undergarments to flirty, sexier ones. While lingerie is the mainstay, CHANGE also carries swimwear and body shapers tailored for voluptuous women.

Marks and Spencer

The Brits have, quite literally, got you covered once again – Marks and Spencer carries a line of intimates that range from comfy t-shirt bras to fashionable lingerie sets that go all the way to F cup sizes (from $49.90), with G cups available upon request. Selected outlets, like the brand’s flagship in Wheelock Place, offer swimwear that fits up to UK 18 (from $49.90).

Ocean Paradise

Ocean Paradise

If you’re looking to flaunt your curves at the beach, your options are aplenty at this swimwear store. Its products include collections by swimwear designers such as Aussie-based Jessika Allen, whose apparel fits up to UK 18 and E cup sizes (from $119). Ladies who are more body-conscious, check out the Miraclesuit contour swimwear (from $255) – it promises an instant lift and tuck. Besides, Ocean Paradise has been around since 1995, so you can be sure it knows its stuff.

ECCO Shoes

Ditch the sneakers and hit up ECCO for a pair of killer shoes to complete your stunning outfit. Booties and office-appropriate heels in the brand’s Shape collection (available up to EU 41, from $249.90), are lined with soft leather and are designed with comfort in mind – without sacrificing on style.

Hush Puppies

We’ll admit, Hush Puppies’ footwear isn’t exactly the most fashion-forward. But, occasionally, it does come up with designs we can get on board with. Majority of the shoes fit up to EU 41, are affordable (prices start from $29) and the brand has stores all around Singapore – so it’s wise to keep it on your radar.
