Time Out says

With the current global crisis, a trip around the world is off the cards, for now. But what if you could 'travel' in less than a day without catching a flight out of Singapore? From now until June 26, local theatre company AndSoForth returns with a reimagination of a Jules Verne classic, Around the World in 80 Days. But don't expect another immersive theatrical dining experience. Instead, the company is hosting its first-ever book analysis workshop based on the adventure novel.

Make no mistake, this isn't your ordinary run-of-the-mill book club workshop. Staying true to AndSoForth's whimsical roots, the intimate session takes you from one wondrous room to another where you'll feast your eyes on colourful costumes and attention-grabbing set designs. You'll also be feasting further on the cuisines of the country you are 'visiting'.

It all kicks off at the Gaiety Theatre Box Office in London where you'll shake your very own cocktail. Once you've downed your power potion, 'set sail' on the Suez Canal while learning to navigate with a traditional star map, and tie a sailor's hitch knot. Here, you'll be served traditional French seafood stew.

Prepare to be greeted by a life-sized elephant puppet upon arrival in the jungles of Calcutta. You'll then be served traditional dim sum and dao xiao mian onboard a replica steam train to Shenzhen, before plumbing the depths of the oldest coal mine in Japan.

Over in New York, a big top with a spectacular circus show awaits. Here, you'll be making your very own popcorn-inspired dessert, before heading back to square one for a quick recap of your journey. There's also a gift shop if you wish to cop some souvenirs for keeps.

Just like any AndSoForth experience, the secret location is disclosed to ticket holders within 24 hours prior to the workshop. While there are more hands-on activities to partake, there will be no live performances due to the current safety guidelines from the government. Safety measures are put in place to reduce contact, and all attendees must wear a face mask at all times, except when consuming food. For more information, visit andsoforth.com.sg.
