Time Out says

Review (updated as of February 14):

As someone who doesn’t easily get impressed when it comes to musicals or theatre shows, Frozen broke all preconceived notions. No, it’s not just for kids, and no, you won’t be the least bit bored. With standout stage effects and talented actors donning their roles like second nature, this near 2.5-hour production flew by in jiffy.

The cast shone. Irish actress Sarah O’Connor’s rendition as Anna had some of the audience members chuckling lightly in their seats with her offbeat sense of humour and at times, clumsy mannerisms. But by far, Australian Jemma Rix did a terrific job in carrying the lauded role of ice queen Elsa – she was equal parts poised and impassioned. True to her character, she gave us small shards of her vulnerability beyond her ice queen persona, all emotionally-stirring with a slight quiver of her voice and powerful solos.

While the musical features popular songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Want To Build A Snowman”, there is also an expanded score with a dozen new numbers written by Academy Award-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Elsa’s hit solo Let It Go marks the turning point, a mesmerising end to the first act, with more than 55,000 Swarovski crystals sparkling on set and an impactful costume change. This is worth a double look since the intricate beading of Elsa’s ice dress took a costume designer 60 days by hand.

Everyone’s favourite snowman, Olaf as played by Matt Lee, could very well be the true star of the show though. And boy, did he lap up the audience’s cheers and laughing hoots during his In Summer segment. It’s no surprise that the gala premiere ended with a standing ovation – a well-deserved hurrah to this unforgettable theatrical production.

Disney's Frozen the Hit Broadway Musical (updated as of September 30 2022):

The animated film Frozen took the world by storm when it was released in 2013, quickly becoming the highest-grossing animated film at the time. It gained a legion of fans for presenting strong and independent female leads and a story centered on sisterly love.

The stage adaptation first opened at the St. James Theatre in 2018 with the highest box office advance in Broadway history. Its stop in Singapore is its only one in Southeast Asia, with a highly limited run starting from February 5, 2023.

Look forward to the unforgettable "Let It Go", a triumphant song performed during a dazzling sequence in which Elsa fully embraces her powers.

Award-winning set, costume and lighting designers will bring Arendelle to life. See it captured in the grip of an icy spell, and meet lovable characters – gutsy Anna, handsome Kristoff and his reindeer Sven, and the fan favourite talking snowman, Olaf.
