If you love theatre and thriller, catch Singapore's first interactive live performance on Zoom. Local theatre company Sight Light presents Murder At Mandai Camp, running for three nights only from June 26 to 28 at 10pm. Written and directed by the award-winning Chong Tze Chien, the theatrical production is performed entirely virtually and costs $15 per audience-participant.
The play draws inspiration from army myths and urban legends that National Servicemen and Singaporeans will find familiar. Audiences play the role of the lead investigator, tasked to uncover the truth behind the gruesome demise of a young recruit following a routine outfield exercise. The actors will perform against rooms that exude a chilling atmosphere. The "set" is dreamt up by multimedia designer Genevieve Peck (behind Tango and Four Horse Road) and will draw our group of investigators into the uncanny Mandai Camp by merging stage and film onto screens. To further augment the experience, instant messaging service Telegram will be transformed into trusty investigator’s handbook that will be fed with evidence and information in real-time. The performance will end with a collective vote in apprehending the guilty party.
What more, amp up the theatrical encounter with cocktails from Laut, a locally owned cocktail bar inspired by Southeast Asia and its seas. Co-founders Frank Shen and Leon Tan handpicked two local cocktails for this uniquely Singaporean production, namely Grass and Dragonfruit. Grass ($38/250ml) is made with homegrown distillery Compendium's Rojak Gin with notes of torch-ginger, malty toasted rice vinegar, pickle brine and homemade grass kombucha to create a flavoursome tipple.
