No one can resist a good story and Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is bringing the West End play, The Truth, to KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT from April 3. Written by French playwright Florian Zeller, this witty stage production helmed by UK-based, Singaporean director Ng Choon Ping tells the unsettling tale of marital infidelity experienced by two middle-aged couples.
The play starts with a little white lie told by Michael, who is having an affair. As the days go by, the lies grow bigger, and soon, stumble too far from the truth. Things get even more complicated when lies are traced to various characters, raising the question of "who is deceiving whom?" Weaving in elements of sex, lies and best friends' wives with humour and profoundness, this clever comedy deals with deceit – whether to oneself or others.
