Fresh off the Oscars 2021, where The Father starring Anthony Hopkins won 'Best Adapted Screenplay', Florian Zeller's epic family trilogy has been on everyone's lips. But did you know that the original play is part of a brilliant family trilogy by celebrated French playwright Florian Zeller?
The trilogy comprises theatre works encompassing The Father, The Son and The Mother – of which, two have been staged by Pangdemonium to critical acclaim and sold-out runs. This June, the theatre company is completing the trilogy by staging the final play, The Mother.
Following Florian Zeller's script and Christopher Hampton's translation, Tracie Pang works her magic on the piece with an all-star cast featuring Janice Koh, Adrian Pang, Xander Pang and Mehr Dudeja. The Mother is a disturbing portrayal of one woman's descent into an emotional rabbit hole. It takes the form of a searing examination of mental illness and a surreal and suspenseful psychological thriller that takes us all on a trip between harsh reality and even harsher hallucination.
In these strange times, where we're all struggling with our mental health in our own ways, the staging of The Mother is very timely. The production is supported by Mind the Gap 200 – Mental Health.
With limited capacity in theatres, plays have been selling out fast the past few months – so book your tickets early. Tickets can be purchased on pangdemonium.com and sistic.com.sg
The show has been postponed to October 2021.
