There’s a new face in the deep at Singapore Oceanarium – and he’s got fins. Hangyodon, Sanrio’s lovable half-fishman, is making a special year-end splash with his first immersive experience in Southeast Asia.

From November 28, 2025 to January 4, 2026, Singapore Oceanarium transforms into a mini trail of photo spots, interactive installations and meet-and-greets as Hangyodon marks his 40th anniversary in true aquatic style. Expect a mix of character fun and ocean highlights as you walk through the oceanarium’s different zones.

Start your trail with a giant inflatable of Hangyodon

Your Hangyodon adventure kicks off at the Entrance Plaza, right before you enter Singapore Oceanarium’s first thematic zone. This is where a 5.5-metre-tall inflatable of the half-fishman makes his grand debut. Pop your cameras out and grab a few delightfully playful shots before heading inside.

Spot him again as you explore marine wonders

Wander through Drop of Water and learn about how life in the ocean first took shape. Once you reach the next zone, Hangyodon pops up again at the Spirit of Exploration. There’s an upbeat photo point with playful learning panels that ease families into the ocean story. It’s a bright, welcoming moment before the trail flows into Singapore’s Coast, where information panels highlight Singapore’s own marine backyard.

Look out for the projection mapping of intertidal animals scuttling across the rockwork, a small but charming detail that brings the coastline to life. Together, these stops set a relaxed, curious tone before you head deeper into the bigger habitats.

Dive into shark territory and coral gardens before a meet-and-greet with Hangyodon

The trail ramps up Singapore Oceanarium’s most vibrant zone. Here, you’ll find two of the biggest Hangyodon moments. First up is Shark Seas, where a photo wall pairs the blue icon with blacktip reef sharks and other apex predators gliding overhead.

Then at Coral Garden, where a colourful backdrop packed with reef life makes for a striking photo backdrop. Catch Hangyodon slotting himself right into the scene like he’s auditioning to be part of the ecosystem.

This zone also houses the Open Ocean Habitat, the main meet-and-greet location where Hangyodon appears against one of Singapore Oceanarium’s most impressive viewing panels. Expect manta rays and schooling fish sweeping across the habitat as you snap your photos for the ‘Gram.

Venture deeper with migrators and ocean currents

The trail dips into a darker, more immersive environment as Hangyodon tags along. At Open Ocean Current, visual displays and info panels unpack how shifting currents shape life underwater while highlighting the threats marine creatures face and the simple actions we can take to protect them. From there, you’ll flow into Horizontal Migrators, where interactive elements break down how different species move through the ocean and reinforce the importance of reducing pollution to safeguard their journeys.

The path then flows into Artificial Habitats, where reef structures, sculptures and shipwreck elements highlight how marine life can reclaim human-made environments. Keep going and you’ll enter Whalefall and Seamount, a deep-sea zone that houses a fallen whale carcass. Here, life blooms in the darkness as different species gather and thrive around the whale, creating a surprisingly rich ecosystem in the ocean’s quietest depths.

Wrap your journey on a hopeful note and commit to protecting the ocean

The trail ends in A New Horizon, where Hangyodon makes his final appearance beside the Hallway of Hope. Here, you’ll find a pledge wall where visitors can make a small commitment to protecting the ocean and watch it appear instantly on a digital display. Just ahead, the Ocean’s Future section uses simple, impactful visuals to show how rising temperatures and shifting habitats affect marine life, bringing the journey full circle.

But that’s not all – dive even deeper with the Animal Spotlight: Corals with Hangyodon, a guided programme where you’ll go behind the scenes and learn how corals are cared for and propagated. As a special bonus, you’ll also receive an exclusive Hangyodon-themed complimentary souvenir when you join this session. Beyond that, there are limited-edition Hangyodon keepsakes to shop for, plus Hangyodon-themed sweet treats like mantou, croffle and gelato to indulge in.
