For over two decades, Wicked Aura have filled Singapore street parties and festivals with the rhythm of Afro-Brazilian batucada. As they mark their 23rd anniversary, the music collective are celebrating the only way they know how: by throwing one heck of a party. This Sunday, they’ll take over Ann Siang Hill for an afternoon of wickedly infectious beats and good vibes, with some (equally wicked) food and drinks on the side, of course.
But a performance by Wicked Aura isn’t all you’ll get to look forward to. To ramp up the festivities, they’ve invited some of their friends to fill the streets with non-stop music and lively energy. Expect DJ sets, percussion parades and a live reggae show. The lineup also features a Capoeira demonstration by Saudação Capoeira Singapore and an introduction to WCKD BRG8, the group’s next generation of percussionists.
As part of the celebrations, Wicked Aura are also helping raise funds for local grassroots humanitarian organisation Love Aid SG. A percentage of the bar sales will go towards supporting its efforts in Gaza and its community outreach programmes.
