Apart from seeing and buying art, there’s plenty to discover and do at this year’s Affordable Art Fair. Centred on the theme of connection and creativity, the event features immersive installations, live art experiences, artist takeovers and loads more. Taking centre stage at the fair is the debut of the Ubah Rumah Art Residency. The showcase puts the spotlight on Southeast Asian artists from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore, whose works draw inspiration from the countries’ shared maritime history and their relationship to the sea.
Plus, there are plenty of daily creative workshops for the young and old to dabble in. Learn silkscreen and collaging techniques, make scrape paintings, craft your own cloisonné artwork, or be introduced to the basics of colour theory through paint-mixing exercises. There are also therapeutic activities for caregivers and seniors, from bear figurine painting to guided clay tutorials.
But the experience doesn’t end there – take a break from the art and let your taste buds wander and explore new flavours with its lineup of food and drinks at the Gastropark. Enjoy artisanal sliders from Cult Sliders and savour the nourishing plant-based dishes whipped up by the folks at The Living Café.
