Time Out says

A Buddhist temple in Singapore is organising a cute “pet blessing” ceremony for all of your furkids on the eve of Vesak Day.

Since love and compassion should be shown in equal amounts to everyone in accordance with Buddha's teachings, Thekchen Choling Tibetan Buddhist temple in Jalan Besar is making sure your furry ones aren’t getting left out either. The temple took to its Facebook page to invite followers and devotees (together with your pets) to be blessed this May 14.

From 7.30pm to 10.30pm, expect sessions such as religious activities that include your pets receiving a special blessing, light offerings, paw painting and even photo-taking. The animal blessing event allows pets "to create a strong affinity with Buddha", while the light offering "brings positivity to you and your pet’s life."

For paw painting activities, facilitators will be there to guide you throughout the session. Once done, take part in the photo-taking event in the temple's premises that showcase the Vesak themed decorations, sky lanterns, and light displays. The event is free but attendees are encouraged to make a donation. Previous sessions provided by the temple provide a glimpse of what to expect during the blessing session, where pet owners bring their cats, dogs, birds to the event.
