Big fan of Janie Korn’s work? Well, you’re in luck, because the wax sculptor is bringing her whimsical world to the Heartware Store & Gallery for the very first time. Titled Cirque Korn, the exhibition is a showcase of the artist’s intricate and vibrant circus-inspired candle sculptures. There are dancing poodles, a tall acrobat totem, can-can girls, a clown bear and other dreamy figurines.
Born in New York and currently based in London, Korn is known for her surreal and playful carvings, which have been featured in numerous publications like the New York Times, Vogue and Refinery29. Her humorous collection has also included wax sculptures of famous characters and people, including The Simpsons, baby Renesmee from the Twilight series and even Wendy Williams of The Wendy Show.
Also, don’t miss as part of the exhibition: For one night only, Korn will be in town for an exclusive artist sharing session, where she’ll let in on her creative process, working with wax, stories behind her quirky characters and her fascination with the circus. There’s limited spots, so you’ll want to reserve a seat ASAP.
