In this dense city of ours, we don’t always have personal space – much less our own space to unwind. Enter CozyPlace, a private movie room you can rent in three hour blocks. It’s a retreat of sorts for those who spend most of their time cooped up in close quarters, where you can escape from everyday clutter with a swanky 75 inch TV. Interestingly, CozyPlace does also pointedly mention that there are no recording devices and that the rooms are fully private – despite not having any locks.
While the idea is to ‘Netflix and chill’, get your mind out of the gutter: it’s intended for friends and loved ones to spend quality, wholesome time together. But of course, feel free to snuggle up under a newly-disinfected blanket and lean back against the freshly-laundered pillows. There is also reportedly a 12-step cleaning process. No details on what this lengthy procedure involves but there shouldn’t be any questionable stains anywhere.
Each TV comes with the Netflix and Disney Plus apps, but due to licensing issues, you’ll have to log into your own accounts. Plus point: you can also bring in your own food. It’s limited to fast food and fuss-free snacks only though, but we still can’t resist guilty pleasures like a McSpicy or a pearl-filled bubble tea.
True to its name, CozyPlace is also ideal for a cosy party, but if you’re throwing a birthday bash or any small-scale celebration here, you’ll need to contact the staff first before putting up any decorations. It works well for a romantic gesture too, with the four-hour Romantic Starry Night Experience (from $149), which comes fully decked out in dreamy fairy lights, a candlelit dinner table setup, and even an ornamental ladder with a personalised message. You can also add on extra touches, like a small teepee hut strewn with fairy lights for $29.
