Time Out says

This June, ballet is turning into something far more inviting through a range of captivating programmes. From June 24 to 28, da:ns focus – Ballet by the Bay returns to the Esplanade with a line-up that doubles as a beautifully staged introduction for the ballet-curious and a must-see for those already under its spell.

You can’t miss The Royal Ballet Gala (June 26 to 28), the much-anticipated return of one of the world’s leading ballet companies to Singapore after 21 years. Featuring over 30 dancers and a gala programme curated specially for local audiences by director Kevin O’Hare, each evening brings together classical favourites and contemporary works performed by stars including Marianela Nuñez and Matthew Ball, plus the premiere of a new short piece by the latter and a glimpse of the company’s rising talent.

There’s even more beyond the headline act, with free performances and open-format programmes showcasing ballet’s inner workings. From Everybody Barre Now by Singapore Ballet and Singapore Ballet Academy (June 27 and 28), where the concourse transforms into a lively dance floor for everyone to join in, to Impulse by National Contemporary Ballet (June 26 to 28), which presents a new creation by Jeffrey Tan, one of Singapore’s most accomplished dance artist, where contemporary sensibilities and classical form converge in the open air.

Curious about what goes on behind the scenes? Ballet 101: The Choreography Game by Etienne Ferrère, Rosa Park, Chihiro Uchida, Kenya Nakamura and Wilson So (June 26 to 28) turns the creative process into a playful exchange where audience picks become part of the choreography.

Experience the grace, power and precision of ballet live at Esplanade. Find out more and get your tickets here.
