Time Out says

Asian Film Archive invites you to explore life beyond Earth with its latest film programme, Earthlings Welcome. This July, grab your popcorn and blast off into stories about aliens, extraterrestrial life and bizarre intergalactic encounters. There’s a movie for every kind of film fan, from sci-fi dramas to offbeat animations and body horror. Some film highlights include 4K restorations of Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Wong Kar-Wai’s 2046, and the ’80s sci-fi horror classic, The Thing. Part of the programme is the Southeast Asia premiere of Lajka. Directed by Aurel Klimt, the stop-motion film was inspired by the famous Moscow dog, which became the first animal to journey into outer space.

Regional sci-fi offerings also get the spotlight at Earthlings Welcome. Check out the Filipino features Miss Bulalacao and For My Alien Friend, which are both followed by post-screening Q&A sessions, as well as AiyA! Aliens in Your Area. The latter combines a PowerPoint presentation party and a short film showcase featuring works from Vietnam and Singapore.
