Time Out says

What does eating chilli crab have to do with climate change? Apparently, a lot. Eating Chilli Crab in the Anthropocene: Environmental Perspectives on Life in Singapore is the first book to examine contemporary Singapore from an ecocultural lens. The collection of essays explore the consequences our actions have on the environment. Almost every topic is discussed in this book – orang minyak films, Tiger Beer, Changi Airport, chilli crab (of course), Pulau Semakau and more.

Because there is so much to unpack, Ethos Books is organising a dialogue session for its online launch on June 27. Join the editor of the anthology Matthew Schneider-Mayerson, an assistant professor of Social Sciences (Environmental Studies) at Yale NUS College, as well as prominent voices in the field of environmental studies – Aidan Mock and Feroz Khan. The conversation is moderated by Melissa Low, Research Fellow at the Energy Studies Institute, whose current research focus is on the transparency of climate action and support reporting in Southeast Asia.

The panel discusses the surprising environmental dimensions of life and culture in Singapore and how it intertwines. And also how we can work towards a future that is more sustainable and attuned to the natural environment. If you're up for an enriching conversation and in need of new literature, RSVP for this event that's streaming live on Facebook on June 27.
