Southeast Asian folklore, Peranakan stories and fictional worlds collide at Armenian Street’s Elsewhere. Held as part of 2026’s Singapore Night Festival, the programme transforms the stretch and Peranakan Museum into an otherworldly realm where mythical creatures roam free.
One of the highlights is The Great Mythical Stampede, an immersive artwork that imagines the characters and creatures found within the Peranakan Museum breaking free from their cases and displays. Think Night at the Museum: picture winged horses taking flight from wooden sculptures and lion-dogs escaping from porcelain objects, turning the familiar museum collection into something more fantastical. You can also Step into the Wayang with Gunong Sayang, as performers from the troupe walk you through the galleries and exhibits, bringing the stories and artefacts to life along the way.
Meanwhile, on Fridays and Saturdays, come down for a nighttime marketplace offering curious wares, vintage trinkets and plenty of magic and mischief. Get your fortune told, meet with delightfully whimsical makers, listen to tales from wandering storytellers and more. There are also pit stops to refuel with matcha and baked goodies, plus a series of live performances to keep the good vibes going till late.
