After two months of fine-tuning its operations and facilities, Filmhouse is finally ready to welcome its cosy theatres properly, this time. From April 30 to May 30, 2026, the independent cinema has lined up a series of programmes to celebrate its opening, including quiz nights, performances, a community marketplace, and more.
The housewarming party kicks off with its new Music in Film series, a selection of music-driven movies with equally banging soundtracks and scores. Highlights include award-winning titles Whiplash and La La Land, alongside classics like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Empire Records.
The blend of film and music doesn’t end there. Look forward to a Michael Jackson edition of Sing Song Social Club, held in conjunction with a screening of the new Michael biopic, an R&B-led community live jam session with Tim De Cotta and The Warriors, plus an evening of experimental art and music, courtesy of Endless Return. Come May 23, there’s a vinyl market fair hosted by local record store Bizarro Market, featuring a curated selection of exclusive records, CDs, cassettes, and more. The celebrations wrap up with a late-night concert featuring homegrown bands and DJs. For more details on the events, be sure to check out Filmhouse on socials.
