Get to know the human body inside out at Flesh and Bones: The Art of Anatomy. The latest landmark exhibition at the ArtScience Museum explores the human body and how it has been studied and imagined across cultures and practices from the 16th century to the present day. Presented in partnership with the Getty Research Institute, the showcase builds on the exhibition that first debuted in 2022 at the Getty Centre, adding contemporary artworks and scientific specimens to the mix.
This Singapore edition also highlights more Asian perspectives, drawing from medical traditions such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old Indian medical system. There is also a dedicated section on TCM practices, which features more than 40 objects loaned from the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of the region’s oldest and most respected institutions.
Aside from boasting over 160 artefacts and artworks, Flesh and Bones also presents life‑sized illustrations and detailed woodcut artworks, alongside rare books, medical manuscripts, and more from around the world.
