Think out of the box and let your imagination run wild at Flipside. Esplanade's ten-day playful festival returns from May 24 to June 2 with a host of whimsical performances, larger-than-life installations, and pop-up arts and technology experiences that embrace eccentricity.
Witness unconventional performance and visual art at ticketed programmes such as The Artist (May 24 to 26), The Social Sorting Experiment (May 24 to 26), Giant's Table (May 31 to June 2), The Pigeoning (May 30 to June 2), and Late Night Backstage Tour: The Spaces in Between (May 24 and 25, May 30 and 31, and June 1). There is also a bevvy of free events and activities for the whole family.
Laugh out loud as the award-winning performer and director Thom Monckton and contemporary circus group Circo Aereo (Finland) showcase a hybrid of comical clowning and physical theatre in The Artist. Grab your smartphone and join in an interactive performance by Smartphone Orchestra (The Netherlands) – aptly titled The Social Sorting Experiment – to find out what your digital caricature says about you. Witness objects and real-time drawings come to life through interactivity and live animation in CCOTBBAT's (Korea) Giant's Table. Sit tight for The Pigeoning, a sharp yet heartfelt Bunraku-style puppet show by the award-winning artist, puppet designer and director Robin Frohardt (US). Find out what goes on beyond the curtains and behind the scenes at the Esplanade in Late Night Backstage Tour: The Spaces in Between.
Tickets are available at esplanade.com/flipside. Enjoy 20% early bird savings when you purchase four or more tickets for The Artist, The Pigeoning and The Giant before April 28. See you on the flipside.
