As they explore the many nooks and crannies of Fort Canning Park and its many colonial-era relics, learn more about the paramount roles it played in the defence of the island and even before the British arrived, when it served as the residence of Malay royalty. Glenfiddich Films at the Fort

Date ideas don’t always have to involve queueing up for the latest strawberry matcha at a newly opened café. Instead, mix things up with a film night under the stars at Glenfiddich Films At The Fort, an open-air cinema experience set against the lush backdrop of Fort Canning Park. And honestly, it’s just as fun with your mates too, especially if you’re looking for an alternative to your go-to mala runs. Running from August 21 to September 7, this alfresco film festival is screening a stellar lineup of blockbusters and cult classics, from the adrenaline-pumping F1: The Movie to enduring favourites like The Shawshank Redemption, Top Gun and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Your ticket includes a complimentary Glenfiddich cocktail and a bag of Truly Nuts, in case you get the mid-film munchies. There’ll also be a range of bites available for purchase, including fried chicken buns, ice cream sandwiches, popcorn and more. Food stalls open from 5.30pm, and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks, though outside alcohol isn’t allowed. Just make sure you’ve sorted your food and drinks before the film begins as the screening kicks off at 7.45pm sharp. Here is the screening schedule: August 21: Ocean with David Attenborough August 22: Black Bag August 23 and September 5: The Life of Chuck August 24: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon August 28: Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy August 29: Drop August 30: 2001: A Space Odyssey August 31: Pretty Woman September 4: F1: The Movie September 6: The...

Franz Ferdinand

Come December 5, you'll be begging to 'Take Me Out'. Scottish indie-rock icons Franz Ferdinand are back, headlining Fort Canning Park on December 5. Known for angular riffs, art-school styles and danceable rock anthems, the band will tear through classics like ‘Do You Want To’ and ‘No You Girls’, alongside tracks from their bold new record The Human Fear. With nearly two decades of redefining the boundaries between rock and pop, Franz Ferdinand remain a live force to be reckoned with. Pack your boots – this one’s guaranteed to be raucous.
