If you missed out on tickets to this year's National Day Parade, take heart, because you have another chance to be part of the nation's birthday celebrations. On August 5 and 6, there will be festivities taking place across five heartland locations, bringing tons of family fun, flypasts, and of course, fireworks.
Called GetActive! Singapore Heartland Festivals, the event will happen from 4pm to 9pm on August 5 and 6 at the ActiveSG Sports Centres in Bedok, Jurong West, Toa Payoh, and Woodlands. Our Tampines Hub will also be joining the fun on August 6 from 4pm to 9pm.
Round up the family, because the programme is looking packed with activities for all ages. The theme is sports: get a taste of basketball, floorball, hockey and more at sports try-outs, or try your hand at activities like archery, skateboarding, Nerf, and Zorb ball. Kampung games are included too, which is sure to spark some nostalgia for some of us. Otherwise, look forward to bouncy castles, snack booths, live performances, and more.
If you're all about helicopters and fighter jets, then you'll be happy to know that there will be flypasts in the heartlands as well.
At approximately 5.40pm on National Day (August 9), two CH-47SD Chinook helicopters, each escorted by two AH-64D Apache helicopters, will fly the State Flag on a route across the heartlands in what is called the 'Fly Our Flag' segment. This is followed by the RSAF55 Island Flypast, which will see an A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport accompanied by six F-16D+ and three F-15SG fighter aircraft take to the skies.
And who can forget the fireworks? Catch the fireworks medley at the same five heartland sites. Expect the razzle dazzle to begin as the same time as the fireworks at the Padang at approximately 8pm.
How to get tickets to the heartland celebrations?
From July 15 at noon, Singaporeans and PRs will be able to apply for e-tickets here or collect physical tickets for redemption at selected SAFRA clubs.
Each person can apply for two or four tickets to any of the five sites, and note that you can only submit one application. If you're successful, you'll receive an e-ticket within two to three working days via the email address provided during application.
