The Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR) will return in November and this time, it will host its first-all women virtual run. GEWR will feature five different categories: 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 2km for mothers and daughters aged five to 12, as well as a new 113km category to commemorate the company's 113th anniversary. Distances for all categories will be recorded via mobile app MOVE by Liv3ly from November 14 to December 15.
Together with two charity organisations - Breast Cancer Foundation and Daughters Of Tomorrow - the GEWR aims to use the race as a platform to raise awareness and funds towards supporting underprivileged women in society. The GEWR will also be eliminating all-single use plastic in race packs as part of sustainable practices. Medals for participants are also made recyclable, and the race pack is made from natural pulp fibre.
