Premium Korean steakhouse GU:UM turns two this April. To celebrate, it has invited the chefs from Kuala Lumpur’s Michelin-selected open flame restaurant Bar.Kar, Lee Zhe Xi and Soh Yong Zhi, for a special cross-border collaboration menu.
For one day only, on April 2, treat your taste buds to high-quality meats on the grill, combining flavours from Korea and Malaysia. The star of its Celebration Set Menu ($188) is the Korea Lumpur Platter, featuring tender and juicy beef in different cuts and marbling, served next to sambal prawns and grilled octopus marinated in a secret spice blend. Other fusion dishes included in the set are savoury and sweet plates such as coconut husk smoked mackerel, dakgalbi prata and century egg kaya toast. They come with unlimited sides, belachan, ulam chimichurri and lettuce wraps.
If you can’t make it for the one-night exclusive menu, don’t worry, GU:UM is extending its anniversary celebration with the launch of its new SANG Set Menu “Hanwoo & Namul” from April 7. The three-course spread’s meaty highlight is a generous serving of Korean hanwoo beef, Jeju black pork collar, chicken skewers and tiger prawns. It’s finished off with a hwachae, the restaurant’s modern take on the traditional Korean fruit punch.
