Time Out says

The wait is over – Hell's Museum, a brand new exhibition at Haw Par Villa, is opening to the public on October 29 and promising a thought-provoking deep dive into death and the afterlife. To mark the opening, Haw Par Villa will also be running a slate of exciting cultural events and workshops for this weekend only.

At 6.30pm today, join the official relaunch livestream on Facebook and get an exclusive sneak peek into the new showcase. But do go down to experience Hell's Museum in person. Watch immersive multimedia showcases – for example, the art and technology exhibition Beyond the Veil – and pore over informative boards detailing Asian perspectives on death and the afterlife. These serve as a rich backgrounder on the philosophies, ideas and practices that underpin Haw Par Villa's infamous Ten Courts of Hell, also the centrepiece of the new Hell's Museum.

All this contemplation of death inevitably makes one contemplate life. The pandemic has also helped put things into perspective – and more of us are prioritising our health and wellness. To help us start our journey towards a more meaningful life, Haw Par Villa has put together some cool cultural activities from October 29 to 31. Head down to try out Chinese ink painting and tea appreciation, get your Qi flowing with a Wu Tai dance workshop, address your subconscious habits and fears in a hypnotherapy session, and many more over the three days. There are even poetry readings, yoga under the stars and Haw Par Villa tours to sign up for.

Haw Par Villa's reopening is part of a larger reimagining of the site as a place for community. In the coming months, expect more unique and inclusive activities, including vintage car displays and rides, experiential art performances, theatrical tours, escape room games and amazing races, and even a shipping container hotel at the park.

Glad to go to hell with Haw Par Villa? Check out the full list of weekend fun at Haw Par Villa and sign up at the park's official Peatix page.
