The House of Tan Yeok Nee is Singapore’s last surviving Teochew mansion and a gazetted national monument, beautifully restored as a lifestyle and event destination. This low–rise, 140–year–old building stands out for its distinctly Chinese–style architecture, featuring exquisite gilding, roof sculptures, and carved doors.
It opened to the public for the first time ever in November 2025, allowing visitors to explore its heritage–steeped compound and an in–house gallery that showcases multimedia displays and photography–based artwork by the merchant’s descendant, Tan Ngiap Heng. The site also serves as a unique venue for weddings and corporate gatherings, with select areas available for office rental.
A major highlight of the reopening is the debut of Loca Niru, an intimate Japanese–French fine–dining restaurant helmed by chef Shusuke Kubota.
Located at 101 Penang Road near Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, this historic gem offers a rare glimpse into the city's past while serving as a modern cultural hub.
