Time Out says

This year’s Pongal festival at Indian Heritage Centre is all about community and traditions. Pongal is a Tamil harvest and thanksgiving celebration, which also marks the beginning of the auspicious Tamil month, Thai. As part of the festivities, the Heritage Centre is putting on a series of free programmes and activities for all ages to enjoy over two weekends. Enjoy a rotation of vibrant folk performances and dramatic storytelling skits. For something a bit more hands-on, unleash your creativity with its lineup of family-friendly craft activities where you can paint and personalise a mini Pongal pot pin, or create your own personalised charm keychain.

There are also tons of games and festival booths where you can learn more about the Pongal celebrations, too. Dress up and take pictures in traditional village outfits and support local Indian home-based businesses and makers over at the festive market. Plus, we hear there will be plenty of free snacks and sips to go around, so make sure to save some stomach space for that.
