Here’s a family-friendly Valentine’s Day activity for you: Singapore Ballet presents Introduction to Coppélia, a whimsical adventure set in a world where toys come to life. Inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s short story Der Sandmann, it follows Franz, a charming young boy, who meets a mysterious girl, who’s not quite who she seems. Turns out, she’s a mechanical doll designed by the eccentric Dr. Coppélius. Join Franz and other villagers as they discover the meaning of friendship and love on a light-hearted journey filled with magical chaos, laughter, dance and music. After the show, be sure to stay on for a chance to get up close and personal with the dancers.
This performance is part of the Dance Appreciation Series, which features an abridged version of the classical ballet with narration to guide children through the story. A full-length performance will take place later on in March.
