A love story about a gay North Korean defector. A crime comedy about a trio of elderly friends and their dine-and-dash adventures. A hilarious family road trip that takes a sinister turn. If there’s one thing this year’s Korean Film Festival in Singapore is trying to prove, it’s that Korean cinema is anything but predictable.
The festival opens with The Journey to Gyeong-ju, director Kim Mi-jo’s latest dark comedy about revenge, grief and the complexities of sisterhood. The programme also includes recent releases like Mad Dance Office and The Price of Goodbye, plus film festival award winners such as Hana Korea, which received the Flash Forward Audience Award at the 2025 Busan International Film Festival.
Classics are on the lineup, too. For the zombie fans, don’t miss the anniversary screening of Yeon Sang-ho’s landmark film, Train to Busan. The movie starring Gong Yoo celebrates a decade since its release with a 4K restoration of the blockbuster horror. Elsewhere, cosy up under the stars at *SCAPE Playspace for a special free outdoor movie screening of the 2001 coming-of-age flick, Take Care of My Cat.
