Cake, music, performances, a daytime rave, sketching sessions and an artisan market – there’s just about everything for everyone at the National Gallery Singapore as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Sip on matcha and boogie down to Southeast Asian beats, or discuss art with getai veterans, comedians and artists. For the foodies, there’ll be plenty to snack on, from tutu kueh to classic ice cream sandwiches. Prefer to shop instead? Take home a piece of the gallery at the Birthday Bash Market, which features limited-edition merchandise, trinkets and offerings from 13 beloved brands, including homegrown favourites like Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie, Curious Creatures, Bynd Artisan and Supermama.
Of course, the little ones aren’t forgotten either, with a slew of creative programmes lined up just for them. Channel their inner artist by creating a still-life birthday cake masterpiece, or go on an animal-spotting adventure with the whole fam throughout the museum. There are face- and hand-painting artists along the trail for the kiddos – or even parents! – to transform into their favourite animal.
To top things off, entry to all the exhibitions at the Gallery is extended until 10pm and is free to the public all weekend. This includes entrance to its exclusive showcase of French Impressionists, Into the Modern: Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
