Singapore has a lineup of standout theatre performances, but now, you can experience the best of London’s theatre filmed live and screened here as well. From June 23 to 25, our very own Esplanade Theatre will be screening award-winning stage adaptations and contemporary plays. Here are the four must-see screenings

Life of Pi (June 23, 7.30pm)
When you put a sinking cargo ship, a teenage boy, and a cargo load of zoo animals together, you know an epic tale awaits. As the stage adaptation of the best-selling novel, this rendition of the Life of Pi is filmed live in London’s West End. Leading actor, Hiran Abeysekera also won the Olivier Award for Best Actor for his emotive portrayal of Pi.

The Crucible (June 24, 2pm)
As a dramatised retelling of the Salem witch trials, this classic play by Arthur Miller is often regarded as one of the fundamental works that shaped today’s American theatre. Actors Erin Doherty and Brendan Cowell play well-established characters John Proctor and Abigail Williams at this live screening of The Crucible. The Seagull (June 24, 7.30pm)
Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones makes her West End debut in this retelling of Anton Chekhov’s tale of love and loneliness. This satirical tragedy gives insight into the frustrations of three ordinary lives – one who’s desperate for fame, a case of unreciprocated love, and another who feels the constant longing for achievement. Jamie Lloyd brings this play to life, filmed live in London’s West End.

Othello (June 25, 2pm)
As one of Shakespeare’s most renowned screenplays, Othello as an epic tragedy tackles human nature as it is – namely, the underlying notes of racial tension and jealousy. The cast includes Giles Terera, Rosy McEwen, and Paul Hilton, and is filmed live on the Lyttleton stage of the National Theatre.
