Have you always been curious about photography and film? This month’s Saturdate at Objectifs celebrates the visual arts in partnership with Women in Film and Photography 2025 for an inspiring, art-filled afternoon of workshops and discussion.
Level up your paper crafting skills with Cynthia Delaney Suwito’s How To Grow Things workshop, where you’ll learn how to create your own plant from a photograph by transforming flat images into stems and leaves – no green fingers necessary. Then, be introduced to the concept of dérive (drift), an image-making technique that encourages you to wander and let your senses shape the way you capture your surroundings. Visual artist Kathy Anne Lim guides you through the process as you explore the Waterloo district and photograph the streets through instinct and emotion. There’s also a community reading session to reflect on the art of photobooks happening all day.
Fun programmes aside, look forward to the usual DVD and Art Book Swap. Bring along your favourite movies or books in exchange for pre-loved goodies from others. Or for a bit of caffeine and chill, the folks at Jui Coffee are there to brew you fresh coffee.
