Time Out says

This proudly-local display by Gardens by the Bay celebrates the rich history of orchids in Singapore. GBTB’s Orchid Stories of Singapore showcases the stunning local hybrids and the island’s long love affair with orchids. It aims to show how orchids are intertwined with the narrative of our nation.

From Vanda Miss Joaquim to Papilionanda (Vanda) Tan Chay Yan, the orchid displays over 40 local and regional orchids. Detailed storyboards are also on display to show how orchids became intertwined with Singapore’s history, culture and economy. Singapore was once one of the largest exporters of orchids, and by the late 1990s, the local orchid industry had grown to become a multi-million dollar one.

Highlights of the display include the national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim, the Papilionanda (Vanda) Tan Chay Yan, the Aranda Noorah Alsagoff and the Aranda Bertha Braga. The Orchid Stories of Singapore display will run daily till September 4, from 9am to 9pm. It is located at the Cloud Forest attraction at Gardens by the Bay. Tickets can be purchased here
