Did you know that orchids are one of the largest and most diverse families of flowering plants? Discover their incredible variety and see the beauty up close as more than 500 orchid types are put on display at Tanglin Mall. It features rare blooms that flower only once every few years, alongside iconic hybrids like the Princess Aloha orchid, aka Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, the national flower of Singapore. The annual showcase is held in collaboration with the Orchid Society of South East Asia and is an early prelude to OSSEA’s 100th anniversary celebrations in 2028.
Supporting the showcase is a series of educational programmes about the flower and our country’s connection to it. There’s a demonstration on orchid repotting and talks that discuss how to grow orchids at home sustainably. There are also hands-on workshops on orchid hybridisation, as well as on preserving flowers in resin and turning them into wearable art pieces.
